Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

Looking Later is operated by Koyit LLC, doing business as Looking Later (“Looking Later,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a California limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Looking Later iOS application (the “App”) and our website at lookinglater.com (together, the “Service”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

Looking Later is a scheduling-first dating and social app for gay and bisexual men, designed for planning meetups in advance — a first date, coffee, or just meeting someone new. Because of what the App is for, some of the information you choose to share with us and with other users is sensitive — including sexual orientation, optional health information, and your location. We take that seriously, and this policy is specific about it. Please read it.

The short version: your profile, including any optional health information you add, is shown to other Looking Later users — that’s the point of the App. We use your device’s location to show you nearby profiles and to show others your approximate distance. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share your phone number with anyone for marketing.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and date of birth (used to confirm you are 18 or older). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or Apple’s private relay address) from that provider. If you verify your account by phone, we collect your mobile phone number.

Profile information. Information you add to your profile, such as your display name, photos, bio, height, weight, body stats, position, relationship status, pronouns, what you’re looking for, and an optional free-text home city. Your profile is intended to be seen by other users.

Health information (optional). You may choose to add health details to your profile: HIV status, testing and safety practices, and prevention measures such as doxyPEP, COVID-19 vaccination, mpox vaccination, or other precautions you describe. Providing this information is entirely optional. By adding it to your profile, you give your explicit consent for us to process it and display it to other users who view your profile; you can withdraw that consent at any time by removing the information from your profile. This information is self-reported by users and is never verified by us.

Content you create. Availability slots you post, booking requests and confirmed meetups, messages and reactions you send in chat, photos you upload (including private-album photos), private-album shares, meeting ratings and reviews, favorites, and responses to invitations.

Invitations. If you invite someone to a slot by email or by share link, we collect the email address you enter for the invitee and process the invitation. If you receive an invitation, we associate it with your account when you claim it.

Reports and safety submissions. If you block or report another user, we collect your report, the reason you select, anything you write, and related evidence (such as screenshots or the reported content) so we can review it.

Communications with us. If you contact support, we keep the correspondence.

Information collected automatically

Location. With your permission, we collect your device’s precise location while you use the App. We use it to show you profiles and slots near you and to show other users your approximate distance. You can withdraw location permission at any time in iOS Settings, though nearby discovery won’t work without it.

Presence and activity. We record when your account was last active so the App can show other users whether you’re online or recently active. Last-active times shown to others are bucketed (rounded to roughly 30-minute increments), and you can turn off presence sharing entirely in the App’s settings.

Website analytics. On our websites, we use cookies and similar technologies — including Google Analytics — to understand how the sites are used, with consent where required. See our Cookie Policy for details and choices.

Device and technical information. Device push-notification tokens (so we can deliver notifications), device type and OS version, app version, identifiers needed for sign-in and security (including Firebase App Check attestation data used to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the App), timestamps, and logs of app activity such as errors.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not run third-party advertising or ad-tracking SDKs in the App.

  • We do not collect your contacts or address book.

  • We do not access your photo library beyond the photos you explicitly choose to upload.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate the Service: showing your profile to other users, powering nearby discovery, scheduling slots and bookings, delivering messages, notifications, and invitations.

  • To keep the Service safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, preventing spam, fraud, and abuse, and verifying that requests come from genuine devices.

  • To verify your identity and secure your account, including sending one-time verification codes if you sign in by phone and re-authenticating you before sensitive actions like account deletion.

  • To respond to your support requests.

  • To comply with law and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. What other users can see

Looking Later is a social app: most of what you add to your profile exists to be shown to other users. Specifically:

  • Your profile — photos, display name, bio, stats, home city, and any health information you’ve chosen to add — is visible to other signed-in users who view it. Health details are shown only on your individual profile when someone opens it; the Service is designed so that no user can download other users’ health information in bulk.

  • Your approximate distance. Other users can see roughly how far away you are. Be aware that any app that shows distance carries an inherent risk: a determined person could combine distance readings taken from several points to estimate your location. If that concerns you, you can withhold or revoke location permission.

  • Online status and last active. Unless you turn presence sharing off, other users can see whether you’re online and an approximate last-active time.

  • Availability and bookings. Slots you post are visible to the audience you choose for them. When you request, accept, or confirm a booking, the other participant sees the relevant details.

  • Private albums. Private-album photos are visible only to users you share them with, under the terms you choose (for example view-once, 24 hours, or until revoked). You can revoke a share at any time, but remember that anyone you share a photo with could capture it — for example with a screenshot — while they have access.

  • Ratings. Feedback you leave after a meetup is handled as described in the App when you submit it.

  • Messages are visible to the participants in the conversation.

Never share information in your profile or messages that you wouldn’t want another user to have.

4. When we share information

We share personal information only with:

  • Other users, as described in Section 3.

  • Service providers that process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations:

    • Supabase — database, authentication, and file-storage infrastructure hosting the Service’s data in the United States.

    • Apple — Sign in with Apple, push-notification delivery, and App Store services.

    • Google — Sign in with Google, Firebase App Check device attestation, and website analytics (Google Analytics, loaded via Google Tag Manager) on our websites, as described in our Cookie Policy.

    • Twilio — delivery of SMS verification codes if you use phone verification.

    • Cloudflare — hosting and serving our website.

  • Law enforcement or others when required. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or is necessary to protect the safety of any person, to address fraud or abuse, or to protect our rights.

  • A successor entity if Koyit LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you before your personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Text messages (SMS)

If you provide your mobile phone number to verify your account or sign in, you consent to receive one-time verification codes from us by SMS. These are transactional security messages sent only when you request them — we do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies with your login activity. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out; if you opt out, you may need to use another sign-in method.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service and SMS delivery, is permitted. All other use categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or sold to, any third parties.

6. Data retention and account deletion

  • We keep your information for as long as your account exists so we can provide the Service.

  • You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). For your protection, we require recent re-authentication before processing a deletion request.

  • When your account is deleted, your profile, photos, health information, location history, and other personal information are deleted or de-identified, except where we must keep limited information: to comply with legal obligations, to resolve disputes, to enforce our agreements, or to maintain safety records — for example, reports filed about an account and related moderation evidence may be retained so that blocks and safety decisions remain effective.

  • Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged on the backup cycle.

7. Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls in our database so accounts can only read the data the Service intends them to see, restricted access to sensitive fields like health information (readable only one profile at a time, never in bulk), and device attestation to block requests from tampered clients. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — so please use a strong, unique credential for the email or sign-in provider that secures your account.

8. Your choices and controls

  • Location — grant or revoke location permission in iOS Settings at any time.

  • Presence — turn off online-status sharing in the App’s settings.

  • Health information — entirely optional; add, edit, or remove it from your profile at any time.

  • Photos and albums — remove photos or revoke private-album shares at any time.

  • Notifications — control push notifications per category in the App’s notification preferences and in iOS Settings.

  • Blocking — block any user to stop them from seeing your profile or contacting you.

  • Account deletion — delete your account in the App, as described in Section 6.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information.

California residents. The California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives California residents the rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, to limit use of sensitive personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, and we collect and use sensitive personal information (such as precise location and health information) only to provide the Service you’ve asked for. You can exercise your rights through the in-App controls described above or by emailing support@lookinglater.com. We will verify your request using your account credentials.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom. If you use the Service from the EEA or the UK, Koyit LLC is the “controller” of your personal information under the GDPR / UK GDPR. We process your information on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (operating the Service); your consent — which, for health information and other special-category data such as information revealing your sexual orientation, is your explicit consent, withdrawable at any time; our legitimate interests in keeping the Service safe, secure, and free of abuse; and compliance with legal obligations. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew). Exercise them through the in-App controls or by emailing support@lookinglater.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

International transfers. We are based in, and process data in, the United States. Where personal information of EEA or UK users is transferred to the United States, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including service providers certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK Extension) and standard contractual clauses.

Australia. We handle Australian users’ personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including taking reasonable steps to secure it; our systems are located in the United States, as described above. You may request access to or correction of your personal information at any time. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first at support@lookinglater.com; if you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Canada. We handle Canadian users’ personal information in accordance with PIPEDA: we collect, use, and disclose it with your consent (express consent for sensitive information such as health details), and you may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. You may request access to or correction of your information, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

New Zealand. We handle New Zealand users’ personal information consistently with the Privacy Act 2020. You may request access to or correction of your information, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

10. Age requirement

Looking Later is strictly for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete its information. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please report it to support@lookinglater.com.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies to you.
